European Commission Consults on Artificial Intelligence in the Financial Sector | A&O Shearman


The European Commission has revealed a consultation on the use of synthetic intelligence in the monetary sector. The session goals to assist the Commission in creating steering for the monetary sector throughout all market areas in preparation for the anticipated adoption of the AI Act in July 2024. The survey covers three points: (i) common questions on the growth of AI, (ii) particular use instances in finance, and (iii) the AI Act in relation to the monetary sector, focusing on the business’s wants in order to implement the upcoming AI framework. The Commission has particularly requested enter from these monetary providers firms which are actively offering or creating AI know-how. The deadline for feedback is September 13, 2024. Alongside the session, the European Supervisory Authorities will run a collection of workshops offering a platform for stakeholders to trade data about the newest business developments and current their progress on ongoing tasks. The workshops will happen throughout the Autumn with registration closing on July 26, 2024. If adequate progress is made, the Commission intends to publish a report on the findings and evaluation of fundamental developments and points arising with the use of AI functions in monetary providers.
