In the present situation, characterised by steady and fast developments in know-how, synthetic intelligence (AI) represents a useful resource able to contributing to the progress of science and drugs at an unprecedented charge. Leonardo’s davinci-1 supercomputer is working on this path, as described in the article “Iit and Leonardo computer systems for the progress of drugs” by Raoul de Forcade.
Genoa’s Excessive Efficiency Computing (HPC) is able to performing 5 million billion operations per second. As defined by Carlo Cavazzoni, Leonardo’s Head of Digital Infrastructures, “We have been the first to begin, and we are actually engaged on upgrading davinci-1, to convey it as much as the capacity to do billions of operations per second”. Amongst the initiatives utilizing the potential of HPC in the medical subject is the Sinisa challenge, devoted to the research of haematoncological and cardiovascular ailments, during which AI analyses genomic and way of life information to determine predispositions.
In Piedmont, the digital infrastructure of davinci-1 helps the processing of giant quantities of information for the analyses carried out in Leonardo Labs: that is the technological problem of digital prototyping, which takes place inside Leonardo’s PC2Lab (Product Functionality and Idea Laboratory) in Turin.
