FTC Addresses AI Issues from Consumer Protection and Competition Perspectives – Tech & Sourcing @ Morgan Lewis


The Federal Commerce Fee (FTC) on September 25, 2024 introduced Operation AI Comply. The initiative is a response to potential misuse of synthetic intelligence (AI) for “misleading or unfair conduct that harms customers” and represents the newest in a sequence of actions taken by the FTC on this area. The enforcement actions goal false claims and representations by companies suppliers, and contact upon using generative AI instruments for competitors. The FTC described these instances as “simply the newest” in its “ongoing work to fight AI-related points within the market from each angle.”
