Gov. Janet Mills has issued an executive order establishing a task force to look at the implications of artificial intelligence, or AI, on Maine life.
Practically one-fifth of the U.S. workforce is classed as “extremely uncovered” to AI, in accordance to a press release from the Governor’s workplace, which means they’re weak to AI altering or eliminating their jobs.
The Maine Artificial Intelligence Task Force will put together coverage suggestions on how to harness the advantages of AI whereas minimizing dangers.
“Like all new applied sciences, AI, if not embraced in a prudent and accountable method, could cause probably dangerous adjustments to the lives and livelihoods of Maine folks,” Mills stated in a press release.
The Task Force is predicted to start assembly in January and challenge its suggestions by Oct. 2025.
